Another Exciting Week!

February 19, 2006 4:35 pm by Trevor

Well it’s been another event filled week. Grace went to the emergency room last Wednesday night. She had what is known as a febrile seizure. This is caused by a rapid rise in temperature. They say it’s harmless, but it scared Wendi and I to the point that I think we are scarred for life. The doctor said she wanted Grace to have an EEG Tuesday just to be on the safe side and make sure that is exactly what happened and not something else.

Tomorrow (Monday) we are taking Elijah to a developmental pediatrician for a more precise diagnosis and to make sure we are doing all that we can to help him. He had his first session with his speech therapist last Friday and it went well.

I’ll try to get a few more photos up this evening, so keep checking our photo gallery for the latest pictures of Elijah, Grace, and the rest of us.

New Photos

Well, I haven’t posted for a couple days and I didn’t upload pictures of the kids birthdays yet. Things don’t always work out as planned.

I did upload these photos taken since my last post. They are really funny. Elijah got a soccer ball from the store the other night and wanted to hold it on the way home. He fell asleep holding it. We have since nicknamed the soccer ball “MacGregor” because that is the brand name. It reminded us of the movie “Cast Away” in which Tom Hanks named his volleyball “Wilson.” The other photos are of Grace on a typical morning. Grace usually gets a bottle at bedtime every night and this how we usually find her the next morning.

Photos of Grace

I added some of Grace’s photos taken while she was waiting for us at Casa Quivira. I am going to try and add photos each night. Tomorrow I will add some more current photos, probably of Elijah’s 3rd birthday (Jan. 7th) and Grace’s 1st Birthday (Feb. 4th).

Grace is really trying to walk now. I really think she is beginning to enjoy being with us, however now she gets upset when we leave the room or put her in her playpen. The poor thing.

Elijah took a nap at daycare for the second time since he has been going. This is a huge event. In fact the daycare worker in his room took a picture on her cellphone the first time he did it. He was much calmer when he came home today and interacted with us more. God truly is working miracles in our lives through Elijah.

We’re Back!

We’re back with a new and improved website. We are still developing some areas of the website, so keep checking back to see what we’ve added. We decided this was the best means to keep everyone updated and to possibly be able to convey some of the things we have learned and are learning with those that are beginning their journey of adoption or those raising children with special needs.

Yes, if you don’t already know, we have officially completed the adoption of our daughter from Guatemala and she is home with us. We just celebrated her first birthday. Pictures will soon be posted in the photo section of the website.

Elijah is doing great and is begining to talk. Tonight he repeated several sounds that he had not been able to make until now. He begins speech therapy through the school system this Friday.
